What Clients Say

Honest accounts, in their own words

KL

Khoo Li Ling

Café owner, Georgetown

"I came in not sure what I needed — I just knew something wasn't sitting right with how the business was running. Roslinda listened for a long time before saying much at all. The written reflection she sent afterwards named the actual problem clearly. I had been circling it for months without seeing it."

RA

Rafikah Abdullah

Tailoring business, Butterworth

"I was a bit hesitant at first — I wasn't sure if a consultant would understand a small tailoring business. But the approach here is different. No jargon, no rushing to solutions. The plan we built together was practical. Some of it took longer to put in place than I'd hoped, but the thinking behind it was sound."

Tan Wei Kiat

Hardware supplier, Penang

"We have been on the Long Verandah programme for over a year now. Having a fixed monthly conversation about the business has changed how I make decisions. I think things through more carefully now, and I am much less reactive. It is hard to put a number on that but the business is in a calmer, more deliberate place."

Nurul Izzati

Online bakery, Penang

"I came in with a pricing question and left with a much clearer picture of why the business felt exhausting. Ahmad was very direct but not unkind about it. The written summary I received two days after was something I read three or four times over the next month."

Chan Hong Seng

Print shop, Air Itam

"Three sessions in over two months, and I have a proper handle on the cash flow for the first time in years. The plan isn't glamorous but it is realistic. I appreciated that nobody tried to sell me anything extra or push me faster than I was comfortable moving."

Siti Mariam

Homewares retailer, Penang

"What I valued most was how little I had to do to prepare for each session. I would turn up with whatever was on my mind and we would work from there. By the end of the year we had talked through more than I realised — and the planning document is something I actually open and look at."

KH

Keong's Hardware, Penang

Family hardware and building supplies business · Est. 1991

The Situation

A second-generation owner had taken over the business from his father. The transition had been smooth in practical terms but the owner was uncertain about whether the business model still made sense, and felt he lacked the language to think about it clearly.

What We Did

We began with a Doorstep Conversation, which led into the Steady Footing Advisory over the following two months. Together we mapped which customer segments were actually profitable, and where time was being spent on work that cost more than it returned.

What Shifted

Over the following six months the owner reduced the number of product lines by around a third, concentrated on two customer segments, and freed up significant time each week. The business is smaller but more settled and more legible to him.

"I came in feeling lost in my own business. I left with a map."

LY

Lily's Bakes, Georgetown

Home-based cake and pastry business · Founded 2019

The Situation

A home baker whose business had grown entirely by word of mouth was struggling with pricing, workload, and a sense that she was always busy but never quite ahead. She had been advised to formalise the business but didn't know where to begin.

What We Did

Through the Steady Footing Advisory, we worked on pricing first — building a clear picture of actual costs versus what was being charged. We then looked at which orders were sustainable and which were draining more energy than they were worth.

What Shifted

Pricing increased by approximately 25–30% for most products, with minimal customer loss. The owner took on fewer orders but earned more from each one. She described the experience as "finally feeling like I'm running a business, not just doing favours."

"Nobody had ever asked me what I actually wanted from this business before."

MP

MedPrecision Supplies, Penang

Medical equipment supply business · Est. 2015

The Situation

The owner of a small medical supplies company was considering whether to expand into a new product category. The decision felt consequential but there was nobody in his immediate circle who could think it through with him objectively.

What We Did

Over two Long Verandah sessions over a six-week period, we examined the expansion from multiple angles — the capital required, the operational demands, the customer overlap, and what would need to be true for the expansion to make sense.

What Shifted

The owner decided not to expand at that time — not because the idea was poor, but because the conditions were not yet right. He described the process as helping him "feel settled about a decision I might have otherwise rushed." He continues on the Long Verandah Programme.

"A good decision made slowly is worth more than a quick one made badly."
